Intended learning outcomes

Upon approval, the student should be able to:

  1. Identify and apply advanced separation processes such as enhanced distillation, supercritical extraction, membrane separation, adsorption/desorption, ion exchange/regeneration and chromatography.
  2. Know-how to design equipment where the studied unit operations take place both to simple and complex mixtures.
  3. Analyze the operation of such equipment.
  4. Understand and describe current and emerging processes for the recovery of biological products.
  5. Recognize the need for integration of all stages of the process for the success of the bioproduct recovery.
  6. Identify methodologies for the validation of production and recovery process according to the nature and use of the product.
